TEACHING VERB

A.      BACKGROUND
Verb is a group of word that shows an activity and condition. It is one of part of speeches that has important roles on making a sentence. Verbs can be changed based on event, time and also subject. It can be classified on objective case which is divided on two kinds, the first is transitive (verbs that needs one or more object) and the last is intransitive (verbs that needn’t objects). It also can be classified based on the forms. Forms of verbs include bare infinitive (V I), to infinitive (to play), past form (V II), present participle (V-ing), and past participle (V III). In constructing meaning of verbs may be carried out by motor activity, pictures, grammar, memorizing, and so on. It is necessary to determine an appropriate method or media that agree with capability, development, and psychology or condition of students. Especially for children who are still having development on many aspects we are as a foreign language teachers should involve them on learning activity.
We assume to improve cognitive and physical development of children so that it is important to construct the meaning by motor activity and repetition. We also create an amusing condition by carrying out yells and games that increase their enthusiastic.

B.      METHOD
Our group wants to apply TPR (Total Physical Response) and Situational language teaching. TPR was developed by James Asher on the contrary Hornby and Palmer developed Situational Language Teaching.

C.      OBJECTIVES
We want to develop children’s physical and cognitive. By applying TPR, the children can be involved by motor activity (movement) on imperative sentences automatically they construct meaning of word by it. On the other side, they are trained to pronounce some words well with a lot of repetition. It means the main role of TPR is to develop their physical and Situational Language Teaching develops their cognitive by pronouncing some words well.
